Sunday, August 30, 2015: Guest speaker at the 10 a.m. service for the Unity Spiritual Center,
located at 2900 S. Bernard, Spokane, WA 99203
Topic: “Thank You for Being Such a Pain!” Rabbi Mark Rosen writes that life is a school and extended family members are your most important faculty. What if you truly saw the face of God in those who most annoy you? Transform your irritations into gems of insight through the P.E.A.R.L.S. Process®. The “pearl of great price” requires all you have to learn how to love without conditions. The next time someone aggravates you, try saying to yourself: “Bless them; change me.” Be curious about how others might be mirroring back parts of yourself that are difficult to see or to accept. Explore how your tutors are inviting you to grow in new ways.
Tuesday, September 1: Guest speaker at the monthly Ostomy Support from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Providence Sacred Heart Hospital, located at 101 West 8th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99204. The group will meet in the Mother Joseph Room off the cafeteria on L-3.
Topic: “Create Your Recipe for a Sweeter and More Resilient Life.” Life is not always easy when you’re coping with an ostomy. Although you might not have control over specific situations, you do have power about how you choose to respond to them. Resiliency is more than just bouncing back from challenges. It includes a tenacity of spirit and a willingness to be positively changed at your core from the experience.
You never know how resilient you are until you’re feeling the heat of the kitchen. Create your own recipe for a sweeter life by blending four intelligences summarized in the acronym of P.I.E.S. (Physical, Intellectual, Emotional & Spiritual) Participants will learn how to approach a concern from four different perspectives. Life’s circumstances often serve as a refining fire to become stronger within the broken places. These four types of intelligences support you to: live as best you can, think helpful thoughts, relate well to others, find meaning and purpose in your life—even in challenging circumstances.
Tuesday, September 8: Webinar speaker at the quarterly on-line gathering of national Q-Process Coaches from 5-7 p.m. (Pacific Time) The Q-Process blends insights from Quantum Physics, trauma research, psychology, brain development, emotional intelligence and spirituality.)
Topic: “The Q- Process Strengthens 4 Dimensions of Resiliency.” Albert Einestein said: “We can’t solve problems using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Trying harder or doing more of the same thing doesn’t always work and can make matters worse. It’s time for a new approach. Participants will learn a whole-minded method to cope with challenges. I’ll provide a brief overview of how the brain operates like a set of gears to handle stressful situations.
We’ll explore how the Higher Thinking Layer (Neo-Cortex) is the most flexible and complex gear. It includes four unique aspects: think logically, make practical decisions, relate effectively and imagine creative solutions to problems. In addition, I’ll show the connections between the four functions of the Higher Thinking Brain and four major intelligences: physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual. Together, these strengthen our resiliency to apply the Q-Process in challenging circumstances.
